Thu Thu Shein is a filmmaker and producer from Myanmar. She studied Cinema and Drama at the National University of Arts and Culture, Yangon, before focusing on documentary filmmaking. Her debut film, A Million Threads (2006), has been presented at international film festivals and museums. She later pursued a Cinema and Digital Media Master Program at FAMU in Prague. In 2011, she co-founded the Wathann Film Festival, Myanmar’s first film festival and a key platform for independent cinema. In 2013, she co-founded Third Floor Film Production to support emerging filmmakers and foster the development of independent cinema in Myanmar. Her producing credits include Cobalt Blue (2019, 27’), which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival; Evening Cloud (2022, 18’), which premiered at the Singapore International Film Festival; and Ten Years Myanmar (omnibus, 2023, 104’), which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2023.
